Rioja Alavesa Wine
The area of Rioja Alavesa, encompassed within the qualified denomination of origin of La Rioja, has an Atlantic climate, but with a Mediterranean influence, with short summers and mild winters, with vineyards facing noon and well protected by the Cantabrian Mountains.
Wines from Rioja Alavesa are both young and subjected to aging, and they achieve high standards. These are wines with medium alcohol levels and acidity, suitable for consumption, especially the young wines made by means of carbonic maceration.
The main strain in Rioja Alavesa is Tempranillo, a red grape which is the basis of its production. However, there are also some small and carefully selected cultivars of Grenache, Mazuela and Viura.
In Rioja Alavesa they also produce white wines, young and aged, of a high quality. Among these wines, the nes who call people’s attention are the aged white wines, considered to be distinguished wines.
